Vino 43 Wines & Spirits

About the Business

Vino 43 Wines & Spirits on 685 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10017 is exactly the kind of place that feels like a hidden gem—until you realize the locals already know it’s one of the best spots for wine and spirits in Midtown. From the outside, it might seem like just another neighborhood liquor store, but walk through the door and you’re greeted with rows of carefully curated bottles, knowledgeable staff, and an atmosphere that’s more boutique than big-box.

The layout is smart—organized by region, grape, and style—so whether you’re hunting for a bold Napa Cabernet, a crisp Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc, or a lesser-known orange wine from Slovenia, you’ll probably find it here without needing to ask. But if you do ask, that’s where the magic happens. The staff doesn’t just sell bottles; they actually talk about flavor profiles, food pairings, and seasonal favorites like they’re walking you through a personal recommendation list. I came in looking for a last-minute gift, mentioned the dinner menu it was going with, and walked out with a mid-range Barolo that became the star of the night.

One thing that stands out at this location is its balance between high-end and everyday options. You’ll find rare finds tucked into a corner, but also a solid variety of under-$20 wines that don’t taste like it. Their selection of small-batch bourbons and single malts is impressive, especially for a store this size, and there’s always something new in stock—whether it’s a Japanese whisky drop or a natural wine collab you hadn’t heard of yet.

Online reviews often highlight the same thing I experienced: helpful service, clean layout, and quality selections. A few frequent shoppers even noted that the team here remembers your preferences and suggests new arrivals based on past buys—something you’d expect from a sommelier, not your corner shop. It’s this kind of thoughtful touch that turns a routine stop into a go-to destination.

Given its prime Midtown location, it’s also a popular point of interest for both office workers looking to grab a quick bottle after hours and tourists staying nearby who want a reliable store with fair pricing. Even during peak hours, service is quick, and checkout is smooth, which says a lot considering the constant foot traffic.

Whether you’re planning a dinner party, stocking up for the holidays, or just looking to try something different, Vino 43 Wines & Spirits offers both the variety and service that make wine shopping feel less like a chore and more like a mini adventure. It’s one of those rare places that lives up to its reputation—maybe even exceeds it.

Found this place minutes away from my Hotel and as soon as I walked through the door the guy asked if he could help. I asked for an Organic red and he proceeded to talk through the various offerings. I walked away with a Spanish beauty. Amazing selection of what looks like everything. Highly recommended

I purchase this Dassai 50 today. Overpriced already. Surprised that the capsule does not fit to tight the bottle mouth, meaning you couldn’t reserve the bottle for tomorrow. Fine, let me try to finish the bottle today. Finally, the taste is a mixture of water and sake. No alcoholic taste at all. Definitely use a collected bottle and refilled with water sake mixture. Purchase at your own risk. My first and last purchase at this store.
