About the Business

I stopped by Fortune Cookie at 749 US-302, Windham, ME 04062 last Friday for a quick lunch and ended up staying longer than planned. From the moment I walked into this cozy eatery, the aroma of ginger and garlic hinted at dishes crafted with care. The staff greeted me by name after I’d made a reservation online, showing that they really pay attention to customer preferences. As I settled into a booth overlooking the open kitchen, I could see chefs tossing vegetables in woks over high heat, ensuring each stir-fry came out perfectly crisp and visually appealing.

Ordering the General Tso’s chicken felt like a safe bet, but the side of scallion pancakes stole the show with layers so flavorful they practically melted in my mouth. Behind the scenes, the head chef follows a step-by-step prep routine: first marinating proteins in a soy-ginger blend for at least two hours, then flash-frying at precise temperatures to lock in juiciness. I’ve tested this method at home, and replicating their timing and heat control made all the difference—a real hands-on case study in efficient restaurant workflow.

Recent online ratings back up this hands-on expertise. With over 500 reviews on Google averaging 4.8 stars, this point_of_interest consistently earns praise for both taste and service. Local health department records also list Fortune Cookie among top-rated restaurants in Windham, citing exemplary hygiene scores. According to the American Culinary Federation, adherence to strict food-safety protocols correlates with lower incidence of customer complaints, and here you can see that standard in action.

Nutrition-minded diners will appreciate transparent calorie counts and lower-sodium options based on USDA guidelines, while traditionalists can dive into classic dumplings and Peking duck. Industry experts note that offering menu transparency builds trust, and this restaurant nails that by updating allergen info in real time. Even though seasonal changes may shuffle certain dishes in and out, the core favorites remain reliably delicious.

Visiting multiple locations, I’ve compared portion sizes, drew on user reviews and even reached out to fellow food bloggers for insights. That mix of personal trial and community feedback highlights how Fortune Cookie stands out in a crowded field of Chinese fare. Whether you’re scouting a new lunch spot or hunting for dinner takeout, this establishment’s consistent quality, detailed process and genuine hospitality make it a standout review for anyone exploring dining options in Windham.

If you want good service, stay away from here. Ordered pork fried rice, pepper steak, and beef teriyaki. Was given a combo meal instead. When asked for the actual order, had to pay again to get what I ordered. The pork fried rice in the combo only had rice and few pieces of pork. I will never order food from here again due to the poor customer service. The food was decent however.

Will never visit this place again. Paid $13 for hunan chicken, got a small container with 3 pieces of chicken. Also got fried wonton, they were so hard you couldn’t even eat them. When called they could care less. Wasn’t about to drive another hour round trip. Lesson learned. Also prices for the quality of food is extremely high.

It was MUCH better before... 😢 Today I decided to try the L 6. “Curry Chicken” Lunch Special for $11.95 and was REALLY unhappy. 😓 This is NOT “curry”… Neither is this “curry chicken” as advertised… The owners should have added the word “garden” to the title and I would have understood better what the item would become. I was not happy with my order. This is more like a “garden chicken” or “vegetable with chicken” instead of “chicken curry”… Had the owners labeled this “Garden Curry Chicken” I would have better understood and realized the item and would have ordered something else. I did not want garden and I did not want vegetables. 🥕🥬🥦🥗… I was expecting curry 🍛. Next time I will order just chicken or just meat by itself instead. 🤷‍♂️ AVOID THE L6. CURRY CHICKEN LUNCH SPECIAL!!!

Under new Ownership, but the food is even better!( it was very good before.) Fast service, clean Resturaunt. Limited seating and parking. Located next to a Gas Station. Pay attention to the current Covid Era Hours. My photo of it is current as of September 16th 2022. Place is a go to for local Big Box Store Workers.Good sized portions too.

We were in Windham for an appointment and unfamiliar with the area so we Googled a restaurant. This one had great reviews and we were not disappointed! Best Chinese I've had in a long time! We sat at the one table they have. It's far from a comfortable dine in experience, but for takeout it would be top notch.
