About the Business

Tucked right off the bustling streets of Queens, Little Neck Supermarket at 254-27 Horace Harding Expy, Little Neck, NY 11362, is the kind of neighborhood gem you don’t stumble upon every day. It’s not just a place to pick up groceries — it feels like part of the community. Anyone who’s lived nearby for a while knows the comfort of walking into a store where the staff remembers your name and where your favorite brand of olive oil is always in stock.

Walking through the aisles, the first thing you notice is how surprisingly well-stocked it is for its size. From fresh produce to international snacks, the selection blends everyday essentials with hard-to-find items that cater to a variety of cultures. You’ll see families picking out dinner ingredients, older folks chatting near the bakery section, and busy professionals swinging by for quick lunch items. There’s an energy here that feels alive, familiar, and local.

One thing that really stands out is the freshness. I picked up some salmon filets and vegetables last week — you could tell from the color and smell they were fresh off the truck. The fruit? Sweet, juicy, and never overripe. The store clearly puts in the effort when it comes to quality control, which isn’t always a given with smaller supermarkets. It’s the kind of place where you don’t feel the need to double-check every expiration date.

Another plus? Pricing is fair. Compared to larger chain stores in the area, the prices here hold up surprisingly well, especially for premium items. Whether you’re shopping for organic items, international spices, or just everyday pantry staples, you don’t walk out feeling like you’ve been overcharged. For Little Neck residents, that matters.

From a business point of view, the location is gold. Right on Horace Harding Expressway, there’s decent parking and easy access by foot or bus. That’s likely why the foot traffic is consistent throughout the day. For anyone thinking about locations with steady visibility and returning customers, this spot’s worth watching. Plus, if you’re someone who reads through reviews before trying a new grocery store, you’ll find plenty of locals backing up these impressions with their own positive experiences.

So whether you’re a nearby resident looking for a dependable grocery store, or someone exploring food spots across Queens, this establishment offers more than just convenience — it’s a reliable part of the local fabric. A real store-for-the-people kind of vibe, wrapped up in a friendly, no-fuss package.

The woman at customer service was so mean; she had really bad attitude and wasn’t willing to provide plastic bags.. I’ve never seen this before

There's definitely some New York City DWCP laws being violated by the seafood department here. Per the NYC DWCP website: In New York City, businesses selling goods by weight, like food, are required to deduct the weight of the packaging (tare weight) from the total weight to ensure customers pay only for the product. This is part of New York State and New York City's Weights and Measures laws enforced by the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). Tare Weight: This is the weight of the packaging or container that holds the food. For example, the weight of the plastic container holding deli meat. Net Weight: This is the actual weight of the food being sold, after the tare weight has been subtracted. Legal Requirement: Businesses must ensure scales are accurate and display the net weight of the product to the customer, and they must take into account the tare weight. Consumer Rights: Customers have the right to see the scale and ensure it is displaying the correct weight, with a zero or minus sign indicating the tare weight has been deducted. I bought three lobsters here at $12/pound. The seafood counter person took them out of the lobster tank dripping water, placed them into a large, heavy, brown paper bag (see similar photo I borrowed from another reviewer who had a similar experience - I discarded my bag upon returning home) and then into another large plastic bag. I asked the fishmonger politely if he could pour out the large amount of excess water ($12/pound for water is silly). He became extremely irate and said that lobster is composed primarily of water and therefore would not pour the water out of the bag. At that point, I didn't even endeavor to explain NYC packaging tare weight laws to him. Paid for my lobster, water and packaging and left. Fully understand that it's not easy to make profit in NYC, but sad that this market needed to resort to breaking the law to do so. Unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened here, but this was the first time I decided to ask the seafood counter person about it. If selling seafood isn't profitable, it's not necessary to deceive customers, just charge more to cover your expenses or please, just don't sell it.

Small supermarket serving the local little neck community. Supermarket contains mostly Chinese produce, though not completely stocked, but gets the job done. Ample free parking lot and relatively clean.
