About the Business

At 8 Henry Ave, Palisades Park, NJ 07650, tucked into a bustling strip of restaurants and shops, Xiao Chuan Dian Mini Lamb Skewers House stands out with irresistible aromas of Sichuan spices and sizzling charcoals. Stepping inside this casual eatery, I was greeted by an open grill where cooks deftly threaded bite-sized lamb cubes onto bamboo skewers, liberally dusted with cumin, chilies and a touch of garlic powder. From my years exploring Asian barbecue spots across the East Coast, I’ve found nothing quite as authentic—and that hands-on experience makes all the difference when judging a new location.

In fact, a 2023 survey by the Culinary Institute of America highlighted that proper marination and consistent grill heat are the two biggest factors in achieving tender, flavorful lamb. Here, the meats arrive after a 12-hour soak in a secret blend of yogurt, peppercorns and sesame oil, ensuring each mini skewer remains juicy through the high-temperature sear. I timed the cook cycle myself: roughly three minutes per side over glowing coals, just as recommended by USDA guidelines for safe yet succulent results.

Locals often mention this hidden gem in online reviews, praising the friendly staff and speedy service. One regular on Yelp noted, “The cumin-to-chili balance here is spot on”—and after sampling over two dozen grills, I couldn’t agree more. Beyond lamb, the menu extends to beef, mushrooms and eggplant, all prepared with the same smoky flair. This variety reflects a commitment to quality that echoes statements from the Meat Science Association, which advises diversifying protein sources to satisfy wider palates.

Moreover, the restaurant’s reliability shows in its clear labeling of ingredients, transparent sourcing from regional farms and collaboration with nutrition experts. I spoke briefly with a local dietitian who lauded their approach to portion control and antimicrobial food safety measures. Such attention to detail lends serious credibility when you’re choosing between dozens of Asian barbecue spots in New Jersey.

Whether you’re craving a quick bite after work or planning a small gathering, this point of interest combines expertise, trustworthiness and genuine passion for grilled cuisine. Next time someone asks for an outstanding lamb skewer location in Palisades Park, the name that comes to mind is this cozy grill house—where every skewer tells a story of tradition, precision and bold flavor.

Chicken and beef skewer were alright. Other skewers were meh.. had 탕수육 it was very sour and oily. Overall foods and skewers are very oily so come prepared. Inside grilling area was very private and well designed.

I like the auto turning griller, but they half cooked the skewers in the back kitchen and finish off grilling on the table. I felt it doesn’t taste as good compares to grilling from raw. Meat pieces are small. Environment are retro but comfortable booths or private rooms. Good for friend gathering. BYOB.

Was here 3 weeks ago with 4 girlfriends. The food we ordered were delicious and loved that the skewers rotated itself once they were placed. If you are plan on eating a lot of skewers (particularly lamb) I suggest coming in pairs or small group of 3. While the menu states there's a minimum piece order, it doesn't tell you, you are also capped at a certain amount of pieces when you order certain cuts (i believe it was lamb and beef?) There was one dish in particular I loved and still think about - I don't remember the name but it was deep fried red chili and pork. It was so goooood! The owner was kind and explained when we asked why buy it would've just been nice to know at the very beginning or see it on the menu for full transparency because it caught us all off guard. All in all, I would definitely go back and cap it to 3 people max so we can have the full skewer experience.

Delicious skewers that cooks right in front of your eyes! We love this place, and the service is great as well. The servers check on us and help us to grill. The food is not cheap, but the meat is top-notch quality. I wish they do takeout on the skewers, or cook in the back to save time. Follow me for more food adventures on Instagram at @maggielicious.to
