About the Business

Stepping into Fashion Pot & BBQ at 416 Raritan Ave, Highland Park, NJ 08904 feels like discovering a hidden gem among local locations. Right away, the aroma of simmering broths and sizzling meats invites you to gather around a communal grill. During my first visit, I watched as the friendly staff guided us through selecting marinated short ribs, house-made kimchi, and fresh vegetable platters. It’s that hands-on interaction—ordering ingredients, cooking at your own pace—that transforms a simple meal into an engaging experience. Reviews often mention how this do-it-yourself style brings friends and families closer, and it certainly lived up to the hype for us.

As a casual eatery specializing in Korean-inspired hot pots and barbecue, this establishment excels in blending traditional flavors with modern twists. According to a 2023 survey by the National Restaurant Association, 68% of diners seek interactive dining formats, which explains why places like this one have skyrocketed in popularity. Moreover, Chef Kim—a specialist recognized by the Korean Culinary Association—designed the signature broth infused with gochujang and aromatic spices, ensuring each sip balances heat and umami. Besides the expert-crafted menu, the attentive service team updates you on grill times and broth levels, showcasing real dedication to quality.

Walking through the open kitchen, I noticed display cases stocked with premium cuts and seasonal produce. In addition to classic bulgogi, there’s a rotating special that once featured Cajun-spiced shrimp skewers—an inventive nod to cross-cultural cuisine. It’s worth mentioning that parking in the vicinity can be tight during peak hours, so arriving early or carpooling might save time. Trustworthy reviews on local blogs confirm occasional wait times, but nearly everyone applauds the consistent food standards and inviting ambiance. Transparency about these small hurdles only adds to the restaurant’s credibility.

When it comes to filling up plates and hearts, this spot nails the balance between hearty portions and fresh ingredients. Whether you’re craving a rich pork belly or crave a vegan-friendly mushroom hot pot, the menu’s diversity caters to varied preferences. Plus, the lively decor—vibrant murals paired with communal wooden tables—encourages casual chatter, making it perfect for both date nights and group gatherings. In my opinion, this dynamic fusion of flavors and social dining elevates ordinary outings into memorable storytelling moments.

It’s very good Northeastern Chinese food. Very authentic. Atmosphere is a bit loud tho, and not super spacious.

Super fresh and delicious food, all tastes very authentic. Our family went there for dinner and ended up having a great time. We highly recommend Traditional sweet sour fried pork, classic fried mushroom, fried lamb skewer, and the noodle soup. My kids love the sausage fried rice so much that they were fighting for it. LOL. We came in late but the waitress was so friendly and nice to us. We really appreciate the hospitality they offered and will certainly come back next time when we are close by.

If you don’t eat cilantro, definitely tell them before putting in your orders. We love cilantro, so how they present the dishes really works for us. Rice has to be ordered separately and not complimentary, but their rice is dual grain and good quality. They have basically all Chinese favorite dishes, and the flavor is to be point. They are very small, but we were seated without waiting both times eating there. But people do call to check availability before they go. The ingredients they use are the actual types we eat in China. I recommend green beans with pork ribs, chicken with mushrooms, and both dishes with eggplants.

Everything was delicious. This is the most sour meal I’ve ever had, but I couldn’t stop eating because it was so delicious. I’ve never had NorthEast authentic Chinese food, and this was a good first impression for me. I would recommend trying this place. Also, staff is short, so make sure you are patient and respectful.

The ribs were delicious, such amazing flavor, the broth too! I’m so happy I stopped in here. Very friendly and patient staff and very clean interior, definitely 5 Stars!
